With Anthrocon set to begin tomorrow, I’ve been asked to highlight some of the writing panels that are taking place there.
Following on from appearances at MFF and FurSquared, Shiloh Skye will be back with his Furry Fiction Showcase. Taking place on Friday (4 July) at 2pm in DLCC 310-311, this will be the perfect opportunity to find out more about the wide range of furry fiction out there.
Shiloh’s panels are always engaging and cover the best novels, novellas, and anthologies in the furry fandom right now. He also details where to get them and the general furry writing infrastructure. You may also get the opportunity to leave with a free book and you’ll certainly get a handout with loads of useful information.
Another of my friends, NightEyes DaySpring, will be reading some of his stories, novels, and poems. He will be releasing new novel ‘The Blood of Life’ at Anthrocon, so get along to his Wolf Tales event in DLCC 310-311 on Friday (4 July) at 8:30pm to find out more (note the Schedule is incorrect, the event has been moved an hour earlier to accommodate the fireworks).
Aetus has a panel dedicated specifically to avian world building, which promises to be interesting. The requirements for avian worlds are quite different from their mammalian or reptilian equivalents, so this will be a fascinating look into something I haven’t really considered before. This event takes place in DLCC 334 on Saturday (5 July) from 8:30pm.
Finally, another interesting panel is Let’s [Not] Talk About Sex, where panelists will talk about how to write a sexy story without writing about sex itself. This is in DLCC 310-311 on Saturday (5 July) at 10pm.
This is only a handful of events which form part of the comprehensive Writing track at Anthrocon this year. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the convention, but travelling to Pittsburgh is certainly on my bucket list for future years.
If you’re going to Anthrocon, I hope you have a great time and if you are an author, an aspiring author, or just interested in furry writing, check out some of these panels.
