It has been a very quiet month, as Summer tends to be. The office gets rather hot and the sunshine often tempts me outside. I tend to dedicate these months to reading, which is something I have only partially achieved due to a range of medical issues that have dominated the last four weeks. You can check out my reading list at the end of this blog post.
I did manage to finish the two stories I was aiming to submit mid-month, but it was a touch-and-go affair. I had been working on these for quite a while, so it was good to get them sent off. One of them has since been rejected though, but I guess that’s always the risk of submitting. I am now completely up-to-date regarding anthology stories, but I may write a few for fun. I may also take a short break until the Autumn, due to the heat. I’ll see how it goes.
One big thing that happened this month was Scooped Up featuring on The Voice of Dog podcast. This was one of the stories I wrote for the Work “Fur” Hire anthology and fit well with their Pride Month celebrations. You can find full details in this blog post.
The Deer Is Messed Up unfortunately did not hit its target, so this anthology has been put on hiatus until next year. This is a shame as it looked like a good project and I had a strong idea for it. I have written the story anyway and will see where I can use it. The publishers are talking about reviving this project in 2026, so I may sit on it until then.
Speaking of Kickstarters, I have submitted a story to Bona Books for their Wrath Month anthology and they are looking for backers. They are already into stretch goal territory, but securing more funding is only going to make this project even more amazing. The Kickstarter closes on Wednesday morning.
I published the latest installment of the Stanah & Max saga on SoFurry on Friday. ‘Bark Run‘ sees Max inviting Stanah to his local park run in return for helping his auntie move house, but Stanah would much rather stay in bed. Can Max give him something to ‘get up’ for? Take a look, I hope you enjoy.
Finally, having spoken to my writing group on Friday, I’ve resolved to try and write a novella by Christmas. I already have a piece that clocks in at 13,500 words and I know how I want to extend this. It will be quite the challenge, but the time is right to start writing something longer. With the support of the writing group, I hope I can do it.
