One Year A Freelancer

Categories:

It has been a year since I became a freelancer professionally and I have been in a reflective mood.

I have been a writer and editor of online content in some capacity for 20 years now and have worked across a number of different sectors. I am currently trying to diversify my client base, but my passion has always been writing and editing stories.

This view has only been cemented since I started working with Fenris Publishing in September. I have therefore decided I am going to try and pivot towards working exclusively with fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as journalism.

I am unhappy with some of my marketing clients and would like to ditch them as soon as I can. I’m aware this may be easier said than done. I am also aware that I will still need a base income so I would happily take on a couple of smaller marketing clients if the work is decent.

The rise of AI is going to make this tricky, but I feel I’m in a good position to give it a go. This means I need a favour. If you, or anyone you know, is looking for professional writing, editing or proofreading services then please drop me a message on social media. I can edit in both British and American English, and across a range of voices and styles. I believe in full collaboration too.

On the marketing side of things, I can write and edit across a range of subjects including Travel, Current Affairs, Sports, Payments, Event Management, and Technology.

My childhood ambition was to be a full-time author. That may be a distant dream, but it is also something I have in my sights. I have toyed with the idea of setting up a Patreon and doing commissions, but I’m unsure how well that will go. Maybe that’s something to explore in the new year once I get a few more stories published.

Either way, I am clear-eyed regarding where I want to go professionally. If any of you can help, it would be very much appreciated.
