Looking Ahead To 2026

Categories:

As we enter a new year, it’s only natural to consider our plans for the next 12 months. Regarding my writing, I am largely going to continue where I left off in 2025, but these are my main targets.

  1. Write More Short Stories
Last year was my most productive year for short story writing and I’m hoping to follow the same path heading into 2026. I have two that I’m looking to finish this month, along with a few other anthologies I’ll be pitching for.
  2. Finish My Travel Book
I wrote a furry travel book in 2022, which I largely sat on until the Autumn of 2025. A handful of beta readers have urged me to pursue the project and I’m now at the reworking stage. My aim is to get this published at some point this year.
  3. Start (And Ideally Finish) A Novel
This one will be more difficult, largely on account of time pressures. However, I have a few ideas for novels I’d like to explore, and my writing group has been very supportive. I had hoped to start something in 2025, but short story writing took priority.
  4. Present More Panels At Furry Cons
I have become more confident in the last 12 months regarding hosting panels at furry cons. Up until now, I’ve presented with other writers, but I feel I’m in a position where I could start to run events on my own too. I’m still looking to collaborate, but I’m happy to fill in gaps and help grow interest in furry writing. I’d also like to widen my audience of readers and this – along with maintaining this website – is a good way of doing that.
  5. Become A Full-Time Editor
My career is somewhat in a rut and working for Fenris Publishing from last September has solidified my desire to become an editor and proofreader for fiction and non-fiction titles. While I’d love this to be exclusively furry and LGBTQ+ content, in reality, I’ll happily edit most things. I hope to make this dream a reality in 2026. If you are looking for such services, please drop me a line.
  6. Read More Novels
There are so many fantastic furry books out there, particularly novels, and I have struggled to find time to read them. I average 2-3 books a month, but I’d like to up this in the new year. I’ve been focusing on short story collections of late, but I really should read more longer-form works.

So these are my main six targets for 2026. No doubt I’ll be thrown off course on occasion, but hopefully by writing them down, it will provide focus.
