It’s been a quieter month, but that’s not to say there have been no developments.
Firstly, you can still vote for Work “Fur” Hire in the General section of the Ursa Major Awards. If you haven’t yet voted, please do.
Meanwhile, nominations are still open for the Cóyotl Awards where Work “Fur” Hire is eligible for Best Anthology. The three stories I wrote for Work “Fur” Hire are all candidates for Best Short Story too. If you are an FWG member, your support would be very much appreciated.
Secondly, the second Stanah and Max story, Pulling Out of the Station, was published on SoFurry in the middle of March and I was pleased with the reaction. I am really enjoying writing about these two characters, with a third installment due out in April. I also have an idea for a fourth story too, which I am hoping to write in the next few weeks.
Last weekend, we had a number of writing panels accepted for ConFuzzled so we are going to start preparing for these in the coming weeks. There should be more than the seven we ran last year, so please come along if you are interested. We are going to cover most aspects of furry writing, so I am sure there will be something of interest. More details will be announced nearer the con.
In an attempt to dissociate myself from Amazon, I have also set up a profile on The StoryGraph. This is similar to Goodreads except it’s independent. I will continue to update both, and feel free to follow me on both, but over time I suspect TSG will get more love.
Two big things are happening in April. The first is that I’ll be participating in Pascal Farful’s Go Fourth project. This is a little like NaNoWriMo except it’s in April rather than November. The aim is to set goals to achieve throughout the month while we all support each other in achieving those aims. I am very much a winter writer and as the weather gets warmer, I have a greater desire to go outside. I am hoping that participating in this project will give me the motivation I need, not least because I currently have five stories on the go with anthology deadlines in late Spring.
The second thing to happen in April is the launch of my new writing group. I have been looking for a writing group for some time and we have managed to corral a few furs who want more consistent writing feedback too. Our first call begins in early April and I am hoping this will really aid my writing. I am also hoping that this will help with sourcing beta readers as I am often too afraid to ask as I don’t like to pester people.
Finally, there has been no real development on the website this month, but it is coming. I’m hoping to have something to showcase in the coming weeks.
