It’s been a rather busy month, despite spending half of it back in the UK visiting family and friends.
I’ve been working on three anthology submissions in February, with the first drafts of two of them completed in the last week. They are now off with beta readers, while I have just started the third one. I have been on quite a productive run regarding my writing over the last four months and I’m hoping this enthusiasm will continue. The real test will be when the weather gets better as we move into Spring.
There are quite a few open anthologies I’m targeting, but I have been on the lookout for other publishers, particularly outside of the Furry Fandom. I have received some great help from Huskyteer in this regard, while I have also signed up to Archive of our Own to try and increase my reach outside of furry. One of the two stories currently with betas is for an LGBTQ+ anthology that is furry-adjacent, but deals more in mainstream speculative fiction.
There have been no new SoFurry stories this month, largely because I’ve either been away or major cons have been taking place, which would reduce potential readership. I have two stories involving Stanah and Max ready to publish though, with the first one hopefully coming in early March. I was pleasantly surprised by how popular these characters were when I published their first story back in December, so I’m hoping these new stories will be enjoyed too.
It’s also Awards Season so I have submitted Work “Fur” Hire to the reading lists for both the Ursa Majors and the Cóyotls. This is the only anthology in which I was published in 2024, so it would be great if it could win at least one of these two awards.
Aside from that, my friend Ry and I are still working on sprucing up this website behind the scenes. I am hoping to launch something very soon. It’ll be ready when it’s ready, but I am looking forward to showcasing it.
